Great Wood Camp is a place of both natural beauty and spiritual encounter, with a long and rich Christian heritage.
We have two Chaplains who work with visiting schools, and as ambassadors to local churches, schools and youth groups, alongside South West Youth Ministries. Patrick Weld has been Chaplain with us since 2013, and Jack Doyle joins him until the end of summer 2023.
Local school links
Patrick has been appointed official chaplain in two local schools in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. One of the schools isn’t a Church school but has willingly accepted him as a Christian presence in their community. Patrick tailors the input for each school: taking assemblies; helping with activities; storytelling and sharing Jesus’ love with pupils and staff. He works one day a week in each school. This vital link enables Great Wood Camp to fulfil its vision of reaching beyond the boundaries of the site.
Can you help keep Patrick funded?
As the role of Great Wood Chaplain has expanded, it has been agreed that Bath and Wells Diocese will provide support, training and advice.
Our commitment is to find £30,000 a year to fund the post. Can you help?
